IRVING, Texas – Charlotte and Western Kentucky spent the last two years in the same division and never met on the field.
That’ll change this fall when two Conference USA East Division programs finally play each other.
The Hilltoppers will host the 49ers on Oct. 14 at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., with the game designated as WKU’s annual Homecoming matchup.
Both programs are relatively new to C-USA, with the Toppers joining the league in 2014 and Charlotte a year later.
UAB’s decision after the 2014 season to drop football – which it brought back for this year – led to a scheduling quirk in which not all division mates faced each other the last two seasons.
