Alyssa Cavanaugh doesn’t always get fired up for Western Kentucky volleyball practice.
Cavanaugh posted an .818 hitting percentage – 18 kills on 22 attacks – which marked a program single-match record. The outside hitter’s remarkable night sent the Lady Toppers to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15) sweep of Tennessee State at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Cavanaugh’s .818 hitting percentage broke a WKU record set seven years ago. Former Lady Topper Tiffany Elmore attacked at an .812 clip Oct. 23, 2010 in a match against Louisiana-Monroe.
WKU leads its all-time series against Tennessee State 21-1. The Lady Toppers have won nine straight in the series.
