Brown fights off illness to lead Lady Toppers

FRISCO, Texas – Tashia Brown wasn’t about to let anything get between her and another shot at the NCAA Tournament.

In the biggest moments, the Conference USA Player of the Year pulled through for her team despite dealing with illness for most of the week.

Brown was named the Conference USA Tournament MVP and averaged 20.6 points during Western Kentucky’s run to a second-straight C-USA Tournament championship. Brown scored 25 points for the Lady Toppers (24-8) in their 72-57 title game win over UAB on Saturday night at The Star.

“I’ve been feeling sick for a couple of days since Saturday and I’m just trying to weather that and come out for my team,” Brown said on the court after the win.
