Belmont and Western Kentucky’s series has pitted two strong basketball programs separated by 70 miles.
The Bruins’ and Hilltoppers’ current four-year deal ended Tuesday with a 75-72 Belmont win in E.A. Diddle Arena. The schools are set to continue the series, though they’ll likely take one year off from meeting each other.
WKU athletic director Todd Stewart told the Daily News that he and Bruins coach Rick Byrd have verbally agreed to another four-year deal between the schools. WKU and Belmont hope to resume the series in 2019-20, Stewart said, which means the programs would meet eight times in nine seasons.
