BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Trailing by a run entering the bottom of the seventh inning, WKU (1-0) stormed back with three in the bottom of the frame to secure its first win on Opening Day since the 2011 season with a 5-3 victory over Youngstown State (0-1).
The Hilltoppers and Penguins will play a Saturday doubleheader, with first pitch for Game 2 of the series slated to start at noon CT. Junior right-hander Cody Coll will get the ball for WKU, followed by junior southpaw Ryan Thurston for the final game of the series.
