Baseball. Tops Rue Two Tough Innings in 6-1 Defeat at No. 6 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Closing out its midweek slate, WKU (24-21, 10-11 C-USA) kept within striking distance with No. 6 Vanderbilt (35-10) throughout most of the game, before late runs in the bottom of the eighth gave the Commodores a 6-1 victory at Hawkins Field on Tuesday night.

The Hilltoppers led through the first couple innings thanks to a run in the opening frame of the game. After Leiff Clarkson and Kaleb Duckworth drew back-to-back walks to start the contest, Clarkson advanced to third on a fly ball by Steven Kraft.
