LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In the first game of the road swing, WKU (18-14, 6-6 C-USA) could not keep up with No. 6 Louisville (25-7, 10-5 ACC) as the Hilltoppers dropped a 14-2 decision at Jim Patterson Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Tops will return to action in Houston this weekend, taking on another nationally-ranked team in No. 21 Rice for a Conference USA weekend series. WKU will go into the three games tied for fifth in C-USA, while the Owls are in third.
On Tuesday, WKU got off to a great start in the contest, scoring a run in the opening inning to take an early lead.
