BIRMINGHAM, Ala – Pitching dominated on the windy Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, as WKU (15-11, 4-4 C-USA) used a career performance on the mound by Josh Bartley to earn a split in the Conference USA doubleheader by winning the second game, while UAB (11-16, 3-5 C-USA) took the series opener.
Sunday’s rubber game will start at 1 p.m. CT from Young Memorial Field, with left-handed pitcher Ryan Thurston getting the start for the Hilltoppers against LHP Adam Lamar of UAB.
The two teams combined for just five total runs in the doubleheader as the Blazers claimed a 2-0 triumph in Game 1 before WKU won the second game of the day 2-1.
