Even when it caught a few breaks, Ball State’s best efforts without key offensive starters weren’t enough to overcome Western Kentucky’s final stand.
Jack Milas threw a back-breaking pick-6 to Joe Brown that squashed any hopes of a comeback in Ball State’s 33-21 loss to WKU on Saturday night at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
A strong second half nearly willed the Cardinals (2-2) to a come-from-behind victory with Caleb Huntley’s 2-yard touchdown run to put Ball State on top 21-20 with 2:04 remaining.
WKU (2-2) responded with a quick touchdown drive to move back in front and Brown’s 34-yard interception return for a touchdown with 1:13 left sealed the Cardinals' fate.
