WVU receiver White tries to break free from brother's shadow

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The first detail Lonnie Galloway noticed about Ka’Raun White was the most unavoidable, the one that has, to some small extent, helped define White’s young college career.

“He looks like Kevin,” Galloway, West Virginia’s wide receivers coach, said with a chuckle.

Kevin, of course, is Kevin White, Ka’Raun’s older brother. Kevin was once where Ka’Raun was at the time Galloway was recruiting him, a little-known prospect at Lackawanna College in northeast Pennsylvania, hoping to attract a scholarship offer at a Football Bowl Subdivision school.

Two years after leaving Lackawanna, Kevin was a second-team All-American for the Mountaineers and a top-10 NFL draft pick, permanently changing the way his younger brother, a fellow wide receiver, would be viewed by the outside world.
