MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — While the players are primed for next week’s Virginia Tech-West Virginia clash, most require a primer on the series itself.
The rivals haven’t met since Oct. 1, 2005, when some members of the current rosters were 5 years old. Some weren’t even born when Michael Vick’s sideline scramble set up the game-winning kick in 1999. They were in bouncy chairs when Grant Wiley bounded over the line in 2002 for a fourth-down stop.
Mountaineers defensive end Jon Lewis was at the advanced age of 10 the last time West Virginia faced Virginia Tech, and more importantly, living only miles from Milan Puskar Stadium.
