West Virginia has used two Joe Hubener interceptions to its advantages, both near midfield and both setting up scores. Hubener’s first pick by linebacker Nick Kwaitkoski turned in Durante’s 25-yard scoring catch, and Hubener’s second by Daryl Worley, turned into a Lambert 44-yard field goal.
If not for a Gary Jennings muffed punt that Kansas State was able to turn into three points, the Mountaineer defense would be pitching a shutout.
Hubener has completed just six of 19 passes for 85 yards and the Wildcat ground game has managed just 34 yards on 19 attempts.
