WVU Football: Season Opener Pushed Back

This scheduling change was unexpected, but getting a prime-time slot will be great for the football program. Instead of playing Saturday, the ‘Eers were moved into the 7:30 slot Sunday night and will be broadcast on ABC.

The college football season always starts a week earlier than the NFL, which gives the NCAA options to play Sunday games on opening weekend.

It’s unclear who will be the signal-caller in that first game, but all signs are pointing toward Florida transfer Will Grier. With newly-hired offensive coordinator Jake Spavital leading the group, whoever starts will be given a freedom to make adjustments that’s been missing in recent years.
