WVU football player tests positive for COVID-19, will self-isolate

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A WVU football player has tested positive for COVID-19 and will self-isolate for 14 days.

A news release from the WVU Athletic Department Monday afternoon also says contact tracing has identified other football players who may have been exposed and they will be mandated to self-quarantine.

Monday was the first day for voluntary workouts for WVU football players in Morgantown. Testing for COVID-19 is part of the required regime. According to previously announced protocols, players and football staff members are tested 72-hours before their return date.

Marshall University players returned to campus in May.
