The Mountaineers are now No. 6 in the Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the Coaches poll.
The one-point loss to Oklahoma on Saturday, which could be described as a battle for No. 1, allowed the Sooners to take the top spot in the nation in both polls. It is the first time in 26 years in which OU is ranked No. 1.
However, late Monday night, Iowa State knocked off the Sooners, 82-71.
Just another night in the Big 12.
The Sooners will retain the No. 1 ranking for the week, giving the Big 12 three Top 10 teams (Oklahoma, Kansas and West Virginia).
