The Mountaineers began their trek to the Big 12 Championship with a quarterfinals win over TCU on Thursday in Kansas City. The Horned Frogs already had one game under their belt, and some confidence after knocking off Texas Tech on Wednesday. But the No. 10 seed was no match for the No. 2 seed WVU basketball team.
Coming into the game, the Horned Frogs had something the Mountaineers didn’t, which was a win in the Big 12 Tournament. In West Virginia’s four years in the league, they finally won a tournament contest.
“It’s our first time being in the Big 12 – to get a win in the tournament – so I guess that’s somewhat of an accomplishment,” said junior forward Devin Williams.
