WVU basketball gets much needed win

Jaysean Paige had a career night scoring 34 points en route to a 97 – 87 Mountaineer victory over the Cyclones. West Virginia 21-7 (10-5) got a much needed win, ending a two game losing streak while jumping up to second place in the Big 12 Conference.

Tarik Phillips dropped in 22 points of his own along with six rebounds and three assist. The Mountaineers went 21 of 29 from the free throw line where Paige went nine for nine. Free throws have been a concern for West Virginia all year but found their stroke tonight.

Senior Forward Abdel Nader led the way for Iowa State scoring 23 points and seven rebounds despite being harassed by the Mountaineer faithful all night.
