All that mattered was that the Mountaineers came out of Lubbock with a victory. The WVU basketball tea had a late surge and topped the Red Raiders, 80-76.
”That shows you how resilient we can be,” WVU guard Tarik Phillip said. ”We knew this was a must-win for us. We had to leave everything on the floor.”
It was Phillip’s personal resiliency that lifted the Mountaineers to victory. He had two key steals in the final minute of the game and converted the winning points.
WVU closed out the second half much better than it did in the closing minutes before halftime.
