AUSTIN, Texas – The West Virginia University baseball team’s four-game winning streak came to an end in a 6-2 loss at Texas on Friday night.
The Mountaineers (31-21, 11-11 Big 12) took a 2-0 lead, but the Longhorns (33-19, 10-11 Big 12) rallied with runs in each of the final three innings to come back and win it at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
WVU’s two runs came on 10 hits, while UT’s six runs, two of them unearned on a pair of West Virginia errors, came on eight hits. Both teams stranded seven runners on base.
Junior right-handed starter BJ Myers held Texas to three hits in the opening five innings before the home team got on the board with two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.
