On Saturday, the Mountaineers fell to Oklahoma, 70-68. After beating Kansas, 74-63, on Tuesday, WVU could have wrapped up a week that would have gone down in history.
The Jayhawks were No. 1; the Sooners were No. 2. Had WVU defeated both of them, the Mountaineers could have and should have garnered the No. 1 ranking this week.
Though they couldn’t complete the sweep, West Virginia certainly proved it can play with any team in the country. And, in the Big 12, the WVU basketball team will see the cream of the crop on a nightly basis.
