Just like some other former West Virginia Mountaineers trying to shore up roster spots or key roles on their team, the NFL preseason is a chance for backup quarterbacks to earn second and third string roles on an NFL roster.
During the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-21 loss to the Los Angles Rams, one former WVU quarterback added a rushing touchdown in a game that the Cowboys struggled to score in. Will Grier scampered in for an eight-yard touchdown run to give the Cowboys their final score of the contest late in the fourth quarter. Grier finished with 2 rushes for 12 yards including the touchdown run, and passing he had only three attempts, completing two of them for 14 passing yards.
