Wide receiver recruit Wilson picks Iowa State over West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia still has one scholarship remaining in its 2019 recruiting class after wide receiver Darren Wilson chose to sign with Iowa State on Wednesday.

Wilson, a sophomore at Butler (Kan.) Community College, will sign with the Cyclones and enroll in time to be eligible this season. Iowa State and West Virginia were his two finalists.

Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound wideout, had 20 catches for 390 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman at Butler. He is from Milton, Ga.

It isn’t necessarily a surprise that the Mountaineers were pursuing a wide receiver with their final scholarship slot.
