West Virginia Women’s Soccer Will Start the Year at #1

For the first time in program history, West Virginia’s women’s soccer will start the year ranked at number one in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Ranking. The Mountaineers, led by coach Nikki Izzo-Brown, earned a number one ranking last year and held the spot for 8 weeks.

The Mountaineers qualified for their first NCAA College Cup and lost to USC 3-1 in the championship game.

Rounding out the top 5: Stanford at #2, followed by reigning national champion USC at #3. South Carolina is #4 and Georgetown is at #5. The Mountaineers open the season against Georgetown on Friday August 18.
