West Virginia travels to Spain without freshman Oscar Tshiebwe

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — According to information released by West Virginia athletics, prized freshman Oscar Tshiebwe did not travel with the WVU men’s basketball team on its tour of Spain.

WVU said Tshiebwe, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, did not travel due to visa restrictions.

The Mountaineers landed in Madrid early Sunday and will play the first of three exhibition games at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, against the Madrid All-Stars.

Tshiebwe, who first came to the United States as a high school freshman, starred at Kennedy Catholic (Hermitage, Pa.) last season, leading the Golden Eagles to the Class 6A state title as a senior.
