West Virginia takes dive in both polls, but remains in the Top 15

West Virginia suffered the consequences of its 30-14 loss at unranked Iowa State, but the penalty wasn’t as harsh as it could have been on a weekend where upsets were the norm.

The Mountaineers are down to No. 13 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 after their defeat to the Cyclones. West Virginia fell seven spots.

The damage could have been worse in the wake of West Virginia’s worst offensive performance by total yardage since a 27-0 defeat to Virginia Tech on Oct. 28, 1995. However, the Mountaineers were masked by several other teams in the Top 10 getting picked off.
