The magic has ran out for the West Virginia Mountaineers after an improbable run to the Big 12 Tournament semifinal round. Bob Huggins’ young squad couldn’t keep up with a hot-handed Kansas in the second half of Friday night’s game, ultimately falling to the Jayhawks, 88-74.
West Virginia got off to promising start, keeping pace with the Jayhawks and holding a narrow lead for all but five minutes of the half. West Virginia led 27-21 with 8:00 on the clock, after a five-point flurry from Brandon Knapper. Kansas answered with an 11-0 run moments later to put the Jayhawks up 43-36.
