West Virginia rallies to beat Maryland 8-5, advances to the Winston-Salem regional final

After 13 scoreless innings of baseball for the West Virginia, things finally started breaking in the Mountaineers’ favor and allowed them to rally from a 4-0 deficit to beat the Maryland Terrapins in this afternoon’s elimination game in the Winston-Salem regional.

The Terps held the Mountaineers scoreless through the first five innings and built what felt like an insurmountable lead, but West Virginia never surrendered and were determined to fight their way back into the game. Senior pitcher Jackson Sigman replaced Kade Strowd on the mound in the fourth inning, and was able to halt Maryland’s offense while the Mountaineers made their comeback.
