SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Two goals in the opening 24 minutes and another clean sheet propelled West Virginia to a 2-0 victory at Santa Clara on Sunday night in men’s soccer.
Jad Arslan scored in the ninth minute, his second go-ahead goal of the two-game trip to California, and freshman Jorge Quintanilla added his first career score in the 24th minute.
Goalkeeper Stephen Banick earned his second straight shutout by making four saves.
“We went on the road and won two games this weekend,” West Virginia coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “Cal on Friday, Santa Clara here today.
