CBS Sports has released its rankings and can now definitively tell us who had the best year in 2016-2017. The National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) has been ranking athletic programs for years. The NACDA rankings weigh every sport equally, giving the same credence to Clemson’s recent national title as West Virginia’s upteenth national title in rifle.
CBS Sports recently updated the weightings in their own rankings, giving more precedent to sports that generate revenue and broad fan interest. In short, Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball are rated higher. Here is CBS’s description of how the rankings work.
