West Virginia finishes 24th in final AP basketball poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia finished 24th in this season’s final AP Top 25 basketball poll.

It was the earliest release date for the final poll of the season due to the cancelation of the NCAA tournament.

In a peculiar twist, the Mountaineers actually dropped a spot from the final regular-season poll. West Virginia and No. 23 Butler flipped places in the new poll despite the fact neither team played a game between the two polls.

It is the 19th time in school history that West Virginia has been ranked in the season’s final poll, including the fifth in the past six seasons.
