West Virginia Edges Buffalo

The Mountaineers (4-3) handed the Bulls (4-1) their first loss of the season. With today’s win over Buffalo, WVU tied the all-time series record at two apiece.

The Mountaineers overcame a slow start against the Bulls, as sophomore Carolina Lewis and freshman Paula Goetz fell to Buffalo’s Tanja Stojanovska/Chantal Martinez Blanco, 6-2, on court two. Down 1-0 in doubles scoring, West Virginia picked up the pace at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, as the team won back-to-back matches to claim the one-point advantage.

At court one, senior Hailey Barrett and sophomore Habiba Shaker won their sixth doubles match of the season as they bested Buffalo’s Dayana Agasieva and Margarita Kotok by a score of 7-5.
