West Virginia can’t overcome early grand slam in 9-4 loss to Texas

West Virginia dropped their final regular season game of the season to Texas, 9-4.

It almost seemed like the game was doomed from the start as the Longhorns (34-20, 11-12 Big 12) hit a grand slam in the first inning.

After starter Kade Strowd loaded the bases for Texas, Kacy Clemens (son of former major league pitcher Roger Clemens) homered to left field to bring all four runs home.

The Mountaineers (32-22, 12-12) chipped away at the lead by scoring one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to cut the Longhorn lead to 4-3.
