For the first time in program history, the WVU baseball team is ranked. Both the Baseball America and D1Baseball.com polls have the Mountaineers ranked 21st.
In addition to this historic appearance in the rankings, West Virginia placed 8th in the NCAA’s recent RPI.
Also, Heartland College Sports (independent Big 12 blog) named WVU number one in their conference power rankings and had this to say:
The nomads have completed the trek from worst to first. If you can recall, in our first ever Big 12 baseball power rankings, West Virginia was ranked ninth after dropping two-out-of-three on the road against Charlotte.
