Virginia Tech Outlasts WVU 31-24 in Black Diamond Rival

The first full Saturday of college football delivered a lot of entertainment (lol, Texas), but it did lack in quality football games -- especially as the marquee matchup of Florida State and Alabama was, how do we put it, a little boring. The long-awaited resumption of the Black Diamond Classic on a Sunday at Fed Ex Field in Landover, Md, however, did not disappoint as Virginia Tech came away with a 24-31 victory to keep the Black Diamond Trophy in Blacksburg. For Virginia Tech, it is their 23rd win in the series, which was last played in 2005 when the Hokies knocked off the then 3rd-ranked Mountaineers 17-34 in Morgantown.
