VanDarius Cowan Out For Season

West Virginia Mountaineers linebacker VanDarius Cowan suffered a knee injury against Iowa State and will have surgery, meaning his 2019 season is done for. Cowan, who transferred from the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2018 and sat out the full season due to NCAA transfer rules, also sat out the first four games of the season due to a lingering discpline issue from his time at Alabama. Cowan’s first game was against the Texas Longhorns.

In Cowan’s absence, Exree Loe has seen extended playing time. The move continues a trend for the Mountaineers who have had a rash of injuries at the linebacker position the past few years.
