Vance sharp again, levels series at Hawaii

HONOLULU – Ross Vance won his third consecutive start with seven strong innings, freshman Michael Grove earned his first career save and West Virginia beat Hawaii 4-1 on Friday night to even their series.

Vance allowed one run on four hits and two walks as the Mountaineers (6-2) rebounded from dropping Thursday night’s opener of the four-game set.

Left fielder Kyle Gray and first baseman Jackson Cramer had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Right fielder Darius Hill doubled and scored in the first before lifting the go-ahead sac-fly in the fifth.

Center fielder KC Huth both had a hit, an RBI and a run.
