UVa Uses Strong 2nd Half to Defeat WVU

Virginia used a suffocating second-half defensive performance to defeat 14th-ranked West Virginia, 70-54, Tuesday night in the first game of the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The second half was a complete reversal for the 8-1 Cavaliers, who turned the ball over a season-high 19 times and trailed by as many as 12 points through the first 16 minutes of play.

But the 10th-ranked Cavs were able to cut their deficit in half by halftime, 36-30, and then totally took West Virginia out of anything it tried to do offensively in the second half.
