Timely hits move Mountaineers past Hokies

The Mountaineers were able to score five runs in the first six innings, and it looked like they were going to run away with this one. If it wasn’t for a late seventh inning rally by VT, the Mountaineers were looking to shut out the Hokies in front of 1,217 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark.

The final score ended up being 5-4 in favor the Mountaineers. They did so by playing a bit of small ball. Scoring a run in each of the first five innings.

The beginning of the game went so well coach Randy Mazey had this to say: “We actually played pretty well early in the game, We got the leadoff man on in the first three innings.
