MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In her first collegiate match since winning Gold at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games, sophomore Ginny Thrasher set a school record and shot a personal best in smallbore in the No. 1-ranked WVU rifle team’s season-opening win over No. 5 Ohio State on Oct. 2. For her efforts, she has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Thrasher shot a personal-best 594 and finished first in smallbore Sunday afternoon. Included in her total were school-record marks of 199 standing and 200 prone. The previous standing record was 198, set in 2013 by All-American Petra Zublasing.
