The Lunch: Hield only part of the Sooners’ rise

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. ufffd— For 83 games over two-and-a-half seasons, nothing has busted up Oklahoma’s starting four of Buddy Hield, Justin Woodard, Isaiah Cousins and Ryan Spangler.

Not suspensions or transfers, not NBA defections or even a sprained ankle. That pairing of chemistry and consistency, along with Lon Kruger’s commitment to the lineup, has the Sooners poised to seize the No. 1 spot in next week’s AP poll.

Assuming, of course, they can beat West Virginia first.

All reserved tickets have been snatched up for Saturday’s game in Norman, where the No. 11 Mountaineers haven’t come close to winning the past three years.
