It will be just the sixth time in 46 years, spanning 654 games, the WVU Coliseum will play host to the nation’s top-ranked basketball team.
It looks like this year’s Kansas team has all of the ingredients of becoming another Final Four contender for veteran coach Bill Self, who led the Jayhawks to a national championship in 2008, a runner-up finish in 2012 and trips to the Elite Eight in 2004, 2007 and 2011.
And on paper, Kansas appears to be just as credible as some of the other No. 1s to play at the Coliseum, starting with top-ranked UNLV in 1983 and continuing with Temple in 1988, UMass in 1995, Connecticut in 1999 and the Huskies once again in 2006.
