Texas turns Myers around late, takes Game 1

AUSTIN, Texas — For five innings, the Texas lineup allowed B.J. Myers to command Friday’s game.

But the worst-hitting team in the Big 12 came alive in the sixth, bolstered by Brett Boswell’s RBI double, and rallied for a 6-2 win over West Virginia during the opener of a three-game series.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by the Mountaineers (31-21, 11-11), who can finish no higher than third place in the conference race.

Texas (33-10, 10-11), needing a couple victories to feel secure about an NCAA bid, trailed 2-0 in the sixth when an error by WVU shortstop Jimmy Galuski and Boswell’s double jump-started the comeback.
