SOURCES: Georgia State offensive coordinator Travis Trickett expected to fill West Virginia’s final assistant opening

Georgia State Panthers offensive coordinator Travis Trickett is expected to be named the tenth and final assistant for the West Virginia Mountaineers under head coach Neal Brown, sources tell The Smoking Musket. Trickett will replace former assistant Dan Gerberry as tight ends coach, and may also help with special teams.

Trickett is the son of legendary offensive line coach Rick Trickett, and the brother of former Mountaineer quarterback Clint Trickett. Travis served as a student assistant under Rich Rodriguez from 2003 until 2007, and worked with quarterback Pat White. After graduating from West Virginia University with his bachelor’s degree, Trickett spent one season as an offensive graduate assistant for the Alabama Crimson Tide under Nick Saban before becoming a GA for the Florida State Seminoles for three seasons, serving under both Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher.
