MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Alexis Brewer, the sophomore guard who was West Virginia’s top-percentage 3-point shooter last season, plans to transfer.
“Alexis Brewer has decided to pursue other opportunities elsewhere,” said Mountaineers women’s basketball coach Mike Carey. “We’re appreciative of her contributions here at WVU the last two seasons.”
Brewer overcame a December injury to appear in 32 of 35 games for the Mountaineers last season, making 42 percent of her 3s while averaging 6.3 points and 22 minutes.
The Buffalo, Ky., native scored 3.9 points as a freshman.
Brewer’s announcement came one day after West Virginia signed two-time junior college All-American Naomi Davenport of Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College.
