MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Joe Wheeling and No. 5 Jacob A. Smith came away with a pair of wins as the West Virginia University wrestling team dropped a Big 12 dual to No. 16-ranked South Dakota State by a score of 32-9 on Thursday evening at the WVU Coliseum.
Wheeling took a 12-5 decision over Isaac Andrade at 141 pounds, while Smith won by injury default over No. 7 Nate Rotert at 197 pounds. The Jackrabbits (13-3, 7-1), who joined the Big 12 as an affiliate member in the summer of 2015, came away six bonus-point victories over the Mountaineers (2-12, 0-3).
