Shooting slumps stall development of Carter, Miles

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Devin Williams reflected on the 56 points produced by Jaysean Paige and Tarik Phillip during Monday’s win over Iowa State, a massive pile of offense for West Virginia’s high-revving reserves.

“Tarik’s just been getting better and better and Jaysean, he’s in his comfort zone and he’s dangerous,” said Williams.

Then the big forward paused.

“And Daxter Miles and Jevon Carter are going to be trotting along there, too, real soon.”

At least that’s the hope within the program. After 28 games with their sophomore slumps in full effect, Carter and Miles could still find their shooting strokes over the final week of the regular season and before the pressure-pulsing games that lie beyond.
