MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Rivals three-star Georgia receiver Sam James committed to West Virginia on Friday over offers from Mississippi State, Maryland, Cincinnati, Louisville and South Carolina.

James caught 46 passes for 913 yards and six touchdowns as a junior at Richmond Hills High School, and last spring he won the Georgia 400 meters state title.

He becomes the Mountaineers’ 10th commitment for 2018 and its third receiver, a position in need of restocking with seven upperclassmen scheduled to graduate over the next two years.

New cornerbacks coach Doug Belk, a native of South Georgia and a former assistant at Valdosta State, led the recruitment of James.
