MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Bria Holmes scored a game-high 23 points and center Lanay Montgomery scored five unanswered to snap a fourth-quarter tie as No. 24 West Virginia downed Iowa State 57-47 on Wednesday night in women’s basketball action.
Montgomery registered her sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds, helping West Virginia (19-6, 8-4 Big 12) double up the Cyclones in paint scoring 32-16.
Arielle Roberson grabbed 17 rebounds, helping the Mountaineers dominate the boards 51-33.
“I thought that Arielle, Lanay and Bria played extremely hard,” said Mountaineers coach Mike Carey.
