Oregon State’s 3 HRs make the difference

CORVALIS, Ore. — West Virginia lefthander Jackson Wolf yielded only five hits over seven innings against the defending national champions.

But three of those left the yard, and No. 6 Oregon State clinched the weekend series with a 4-2 win Saturday.

Beau Phillip homered twice and Adley Rutschman added a solo shot for the Beavers (10-0), who will go for the sweep Sunday.

Phillip’s two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth put Oregon State ahead 3-2. It came after Wolfe walked Rutschman on four pitches to open the inning.

TJ Lake ripped a two-run double for West Virginia (5-5) in the top of the fourth, but the Mountaineers were 0-for-10 otherwise with runners in scoring position.
