No. 2 West Virginia women suffer first home loss in two years

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Georgetown’s Grace Damaska scored off the crossbar in the 102nd minute, giving the No. 18 Hoyas a 1-0 double-overtime victory over No. 2 West Virginia on Sunday.

The lone goal snapped West Virginia’s 30-match unbeaten home streak, 11th-longest all-time in NCAA history. The Mountaineers (7-1-1) had not lost at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium since a 2-0 defeat to Duke on Aug. 29, 2014.

Georgetown (8-1), the fifth ranked opponent WVU has faced this season, were outshot 23-8, including a 4-0 edge in the first overtime. The Mountaineers also earned a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
